Friday morning when I went to brush my teeth and there was only 1 toothbrush in the holder is when it really sunk in that he was gone. Isn't it funny how it's the little things? Ben is off on his first mission- well sort of. A typical C-5 mission lasts about 2 weeks. Ben is on a staging which should last about 6 weeks. He is moving cargo between Spain and Afghanistan. This means he'll be gone for Rhone's first Halloween and Thanksgiving. So Rhone and I could tough it out by ourselves here in Delaware, but what fun would that be. So at the end of this week Rhone and I are flying out to stay with my parents, just in time for Halloween and staying until after Thanksgiving. It's tough deciding what to do, but I'm sure that Rhone and I will have a great time at home and that the flights by myself will be worth it.
We have been holding up pretty well so far. I have been busy with church meetings and taking care of Rhone. When you are responsible for him 24/7 he can wear you out in a hurry. I just got the new Eric Church album (thanks for the Halloween treat mom). There is a song that I am loving right now. It's called "Without You Here." Listen HERE by pushing the play button at the right side of the page. We love ya Ben!

I love the song. I'm sure you're going to worry about him the whole time he is gone. I am glad that you are coming here. I know everyone is planning on going up to Granny's on Saturday to show off costume's. Maybe you guys can make it down and show off Rhone. Have a good flight and give Rhone lots of hugs and kisses from us.
OH MEAGAN!! I am SO sorry. I know exactly how you feel. Joe was never gone that long so I can only imagine how hard it must be. On a brighter note, how exciting to get to go home!!! I bet your parents are just loving having Rhone around so much this year! Check out my blog and have a laugh :D It oughta' cheer you up a bit. :)
I left a note last night while at Dad's but of course it didn't show up. it is hard when the person you love is gone. I hope all goes well with the mission. In the meantime, we certainly enjoy that you are coming home and we get to spend time with you and that adorable boy of yours.
I'm sorry he has to leave again that is no fun but me and the boys are excited to come play with Rhone again especially Trey!! We wil see you on Halloween.
Your amazing Meagan. Hang in there. I hope the time flies by while he's gone.
Hey Meagan, reading your post flooded me with familiar emotions and sympathy for what you're going through. I think you'll be happy visiting your family. While it doesn't bring your sweetheart home, it sure does help the time pass by faster. And as for Ben missing a few holidays, believe it or not, Rhone's first aren't that bad to miss. He's not old enough to get excited or know what's goin' on yet. Ben isn't really missing anything he hasn't seen everyday with Rhone. It's missing seeing the kids excited at birthdays, or sad with Daddy leaving that's tough. May the time fly by for all 3 of you! Look for some "Meagan things" that you can always count on to be a comfort when you're missing Ben. For me it was books, roller blading, and chocolate! You're in my thoughts and prayers.
I think you'll qualify for full-time residency in Idaho this year, not just the address. I'm glad that you get to spend the time with family.
Oh Meagan, good luck! I'm glad you can stay with family. You really are a strong woman and a great mom. I can really tell how much you love your son, even on the hard days! Good luck, I hope time flies!
