I'm so glad when daddy comes home..

...glad as I can be.  Ben got home just in time for Father's Day!  In honor of our man we took out our kayak, made a trip to the Brandywine Zoo, and enjoyed some yummy food.  When I asked Ben what he wanted to eat he listed: Garlic Shrimp from Rota, Spain; a Doner Kabob and schnitzel  from Germany, a gyro from Mikey's in Moscow, ID; a Kuwait breakfast and the list went went on.  So I found a recipe for garlic shrimp.  It turned out pretty yummy, but not the same as the ones in Rota (so I am told). And Ben picked out an icecream cake from Dairy Queen, which really was yummy.  Rhone made Ben a card which included a cute little questionnaire about Ben and we opened a few gifts too.  Ben is an amazing dad and we really are so happy when he is home with us!

3 fast months!

3 months

 Our little lady is already 3 months old, and really haven't done such a great job posting about her.  She is such a sweet baby.  We are so so blessed to have her.  Honestly I can't believe how big she is getting.  She is a chunky little gal, but thank goodness no rival to Rhone.  She is a tall one too and has a small head.  She has been wearing 3-6 month clothes for a few weeks now.  She loves to swing, and play with her toys on her little mat.  She will entertain herself for close to an hour.  She is a great sleeper and pretty good eater and so much fun to snuggle with.  She is not so great at tummy time, but hopefully she will get stronger neck and shoulder muscles soon.  She loves Rhone and even puts up with his shenanigans pretty well. We love our little Sylvie, Sylv, Sylvkins, Sylverific so much!

Beach Day

We had the chance to meet up with some of our friends at the beach one Saturday.  It was really such a fun day.  So fun we lost track of time and should have reapplied sunscreen sooner.  We will certainly miss the Delaware beaches and our friends!

Race weekend

Dover International Speedway hosts a NASCAR race twice a year.  We have always avoided the chaos, but since this was our last chance we thought we should experience it here in Dover. We thought Rhone might really like it since he really enjoys the Disney "Cars" movies.  Ben was able to get tickets for the whole family for free from the USO.  Woot woot.  On Friday night the base hosted a family NASCAR night.  They had a bunch of activities set up, some actual race cars, live music, and some drivers to sign auto graphs.  We stayed for a bit.  Rhone waited in line twice to race these mini cars, and loved it.  We got some cool little Lego pit crew guys that were purchased thanks to NASCAR fan donations. 

We basically know nothing about NASCAR.  Honestly I always thought it was a little redneck, but everyone was super nice and very generous and supportive of the military.  I definitely have a different opinion now.  I mean what other sport lets fans bring in their own cooler?  On race day I was pretty nervous. I thought I we were crazy entering the masses with a pre-schooler and especially a baby (it was both of their 1st professional sporting event)!  We parked closer than I thought, Sylvie slept, and Rhone was a trooper, the fans were not crazy or drunk, and once you put on your ear protection it was really rather peaceful.  We last about 100 laps enough to see a 13 car pile up and enjoy the show.  On the walk out we scored a ride on one of the little VIP golf carts.  It was pretty awesome.  NASCAR I miss judged you.

Sylvie's Blessing

Sylvie's blessing day fell on Easter Sunday.  Ben did a great job giving Sylvie a blessing.  He kept it nice and short too.  She is such an amazing little spirit and we are so so thankful she is part of our family and that God trusted us with her.  Sylvie was blessed in the same dress that I was.  She looked perfect in it and Nana even got her a sweet little bracelet and bow to wear.  We had so many special people come to help us celebrate.  We reserved the elementary school cafeteria for everyone to eat an Easter lunch at afterwards.  There was plenty of food and we hope everyone had a good time.  We had a fun table set up with a few activities for the kids and the weather was perfect for playing outside too.  Thank you thank you to everyone for coming and meeting our little girl!
