Rhone is sleeping right now and I should be too, but I keep thinking and thinking about this post, so I want to get it done while I don't have a little helper. Thanksgiving evening my dad and I took a quick 4-wheeler ride around our property right at sunset. As I looked at the valley this song was playing in my mind the whole time.
For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
Pleasures pure and undefiled,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.
I am so thankful for my little family. Rhone keeps me on my toes. He can wear me out, but I am so grateful that I am the one who gets to spend everyday watching him learn and grow. What a blessing to be the one caring for my own child and I am blessed that Ben makes that possible. We have spent a lot of time apart lately, but when I am with Ben I love how I always think, "he is so much fun, no wonder I married him." He is a great guy and I can't wait to be together again.
I would not have made it through this year with out my family- especially my parents. They welcome Rhone and me into their home time and time again.
My mom is so sweet to make every one of Rhone's first holidays special (we have been in Idaho for Valentines, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving). She keeps Rhone dressed so handsome and takes time to have fun girl outings with me. She is an absolutely amazing woman and mother. My dad caters to my and Rhone's schedules I know we slow him down, but he always finds a fun way to get Rhone involved with whatever work we need to get done. He makes sure that I have a chance to do all the fun things when I am home like hunt and fish. My dad can get Rhone to do almost anything-he has such great skills with little kids and he has turned our Ace into an excellent hunting dog. Rhone is so blessed to know his grandparents and extended family so well.
Lastly I am grateful for the people who have made this year of change and uncertainty bearable. The stranger who doesn't complain when Rhone kicks his set for the thousandth time on the 5 hour flight, or the person who volunteers at the USO so Rhone doesn't have to crawl around the grimy airport, and our friends from Miss. Not everyone is so generous so when you find those people who are it really is a delight. I have been blessed to make friends in both San Antonio and Dover even though we have lived in those places for such a short amount of time. Thank you , Thank you to everyone that helped take care of me and Rhone when I there was no one else to do so.
Thanksgiving was perfect. Good hunting. good food and good company and no stress. In all of the excitement of the day I hardly got any photos, but I have plenty of other pictures to post when have a more functional computer.

I love your sappy post Meg! You are an amazing person, it was a lot of fun to get to spend some time whith Rhone while we were at Grandma Rose's. He is so much fun, and dang cute. Him and Naomi and Lucy got along just great and he was giving Naomi all kinds of hugs. Lucy had a great time playing with him and your Dad. I think Rhone was not too sure what to think about your Dad playing with Lucy....He must adore his Papa :) I think you have such a good attitude, I know I would not be as strong if I were in your situation. I hope you have a Happy Holiday, you deserve it. This is going to say that I am Will cause for some reason I am signed in under him, but it is really Rachel :)
Sounds like you are having a great time at your parents. It's so nice to have a place you can go while your hubby's away. When does he get back? Rhone has grown up so much! He's darling! Miss you guys down here in MS!
I loved you post. Those around you that make like so bearable are such blessings. I am so glad you got to come home and spend time with your family and spend time with us. Your baby is such a joy. I can't tell you how much it has meant to see innocence and joy of a baby. How good life can be. Thank you for sharing him with us!!
You are the absolute best and such a trooper through all the chaos! I miss you but will hopefully get to meet up with you soon.
Well, I thought this was a great post! Not too sappy for me. I love that song. They sing it on Little Women. It is a great hymn. Sounds like a great time with family and friends. Are you still living in Delaware, in that cute house?
You got me in tears here =) I'm too thankful for all the wonderful people you need to rely on, especially when you are a military wife. I'm so glad you are having a good time with your sweet family.
This was a great post. I love that song too. You can litterally feel your heart swell with gratitude when you sing it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I love your perspective. Thanks for sharing!
I like the sappy post, too! And I certainly agree that you have awesome parents :) I am bummed we didn't get to see you at Thanksgiving but I am glad you had a good time. Next time you are out this way we'll drive over there so you don't have to travel alone with Rhone. Can't wait to see pics of Ben's lil' excursion.
